The challenge: Bring a beautiful static animation “to life”, in an efficient and cost effective manner that could utilise multiple social feeds, and utilise pre-moderation techniques. That could be scaled to be deployed at multiple events and venues, on multiple screens.
The solution: A beautiful side-scrolling social media wall, showing live pre-moderated content. Initially located at the welcome desk of ‘Ford Stores’ – user research showed that psychologically it put people at ease, seeing posts and tweets from other Ford Owners and users on a wall in front of them.
It started as an Adobe After Effects rendered static video, and me and my team turned it into a beautiful (responsive) social media wall with the front end built in HTML/ CSS / Javascript, with aggregated social media content, and parallax scrolling.
I engineered the wall to take on various social feeds, and to work live or cached, and used at multiple motor shows for Ford Motor Company globally on their stands; at tech conferences such as Mobile World Congress, with a different look and feel (skin) – and print activations related to people taking selfies and them being retweeted to the wall. I was also used at the Champions League Village Mustang experience – where it kept users engaged, posting selfies, whilst they waited to gain access to the Mustang installation.

I also used it at multiple internal Ford Motor Company events; integrating it with Yammer – and event-appropriate static content.
The tech stack: HTML/CSS/JavaScript, JQuery, Bootstrap, Java, Json, Oauth integration, Social API consumption: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Yammer, Youtube, Vine, etc.
