The challenge: Summary: 2D and 3D Gaming Style Proof of Concept Build

The challenge presented to me by a youth engagement and improvement organization was to create a digital element to complement their in-person residential work.

The solution: To address this, I actively participated in ideation workshops and swiftly began working on a set of ideas and demos.

Initially, I focused on building a fully functional 2D side-scrolling platform game with retro graphics. The game featured a main character and popup text when passing by signposts, effectively conveying the concept of a game-like environment. This provided an engaging and suitable demonstration of the concept.

Moving forward, I transitioned to building a 3D model in three.js, utilizing an environment HDRi and a 3D car model to create a simple interactive 3D car game. This expansion into the 3D realm added depth and interactivity to the digital offering.

As the workshops progress, I will soon present these prototypes to the client. Following their feedback, I will refine and iterate on the concepts to ensure they align with the organization’s goals and requirements. Real-world testing will be conducted at a residential event, allowing us to gather valuable insights from the target audience.

By combining my expertise in game development and interactive design, I am creating a proof of concept that enhances the organization’s engagement efforts. This digital element supplements their in-person work, providing a captivating and interactive experience for the youth they serve.
