Here is a short blog post on some of my technology predictions for 2017. Also, I wanted to do a final blog post of the year on a positive note!
Here are my top 10 technology predictions for 2017
- Someone will get hacked on a big scale. I predict one of the big technology companies will be exposed. However, I hope it will activate a doubling down on improving of cyber security.
- Apple will release several new products this year, including a refresh of existing products. I hope also new products in new market segments. I predict a significant improvement to the digital assistant Siri. Also, I predict a Siri only device (like the Amazon Echo). I’m hoping for an Apple Glasses. Glasses that give a view for seeing messages, emails and notifications. Also, maybe a little bit of augmented reality. As a technology prediction, I think this one is most likely.
- Microsoft continue to (relatively) quietly launch awesome products. Therefore I predict it’s share price continue to climb again and again.
- Apple will finally recognise the significant iPhone battery issues. And therefore they’ll do something about it in a iOS upgrade (hopefully).
- Nintendo will fix the price model and connectivity requirements of Mario Run, and get another hit on mobile (and maybe launch an Android version).
- A new ‘autonomous’ something will emerge, that’s even more exciting than an autonomous driving car.
- Someone will find a use or ‘killer app’ for blockchain – probably in relation to digital identity.
- Tech shares will continue to rise, there will be some big tech flotations. Uber will continue to lose loads of money, and we’ll see some big name startups die this year.
- They’ll be increasing resentment of the Facebook monolith’s misinformation and post-fact era news reporting, and maybe something will be done about it!
- Samsung will release a new phone that doesn’t explode, and Apple will release an iPhone 8 rather than a 7S, and it will be awesome (and maybe get the earplug socket back!).

Conclusion for 2017 technology predictions
I’ll check in at the end of next year to see how close I came.
They sound good predictions & I hope they do something about battery issues as I have to carry my charger with me sometimes ha ha!
