Article on the metro regarding internet privacy and phorm, this is a gray area I think, but I don't want people knowing my preferences then serving up content that is adapted to this without my explicit permission; for example someone else could use my computer and be served up my content, but anyhow its got a lot more risks than that. This is a really dodgy area - like the Beacon ad thing that Facebook did, where you could buy something on a site then it would be posted in your feed to notify all of your friends!

Dark Knight Sonar

The Dark Knight uses a sonar thing connected to everyones mobile to give a complete image of an entire city, now this sounds very sci-fi but is what is being attempted with social sensing, not necessarily the sonar bit (mocking comments regarding this), but the idea behind it is being developed. Social sensing or urban sensing (info here) involves making use of all the sensing devices that are out there such as cameras, mobile phones, cctv, traffic cameras, etc and aggregating this information in a useful way. The minority report, and James Bond Quantum of Solace had some cool technologies in them

Quantum of Solace

Well those things are becoming a reality with Microsoft Surface. Click here for the video and the following article.

This is a video from TED for a wearable device that offers a 6th sense, by projecting images onto everyday objects and allowing you to interract with it, this is very cool!

Now I've developed a fun little flash app that gives a minority report type interface: (Move your fingers over the menu items and the text in that section will appear before you, as if by magic. Its doesn't work 100% of the time, but its impressive when it works!

If you don't see your image appear in the interface then as long as you've got a web cam you need to change your flash settings. Right click on flash and click settings and click the 2nd tab from the left and allow access of your camera. As in the image below; Camera instructions
