My film reviews for September 2007 Year to Date [ 10 September 2007, 21:27:00 ]

My favourite movie this year is between The Bourne Ultimatum and Transformers both were absolutely brilliant! I think Bourne just snatches it because it starts at such a fast pace, and is able to maintain it throughout.
The worst film I’ve seen so far this year is Pirates of the Caribbean 3. It was horrible; boring and ridiculous, confusing and annoying, and soooo long. I couldn’t wait for the three hours to end. 28 Weeks Later was pretty bad. I enjoyed 28 Days Later a lot, in fact it is one of my favourite movies. 28 Weeks Later is just ridiculous, not a patch on the original. Spiderman 3, FF4 and Goal 2 were all a little disappointing. Hot Fuzz wasn’t as good as I was expecting, but much better when I saw it on DVD.
Knocked up was surprisingly good. I’d heard bad things about Shrek the Third but I much preferred it to Shrek 2 and I found it a much more enjoyable watch then the latest Harry Potter Movie.

The best film I’ve seen on DVD in 2007 is Déjà vu it’s just excellent, a bit ridiculous and some big plot holes but when its this interesting and enjoyable I don’t care. My biggest surprise was Dancer in the Dark, which stars Bjork. It was a real emotional film I wouldn’t suggest watching it without tissues.
The Grudge 2 was disappointing. The biggest disappointment was Pan’s Labyrinth, I’d had it described as a horror but there are only really two moments that could be considered horrific, the rest was a bit boring.
The worse DVDs I’ve seen this year are Harsh Times and Bad Taste. Bad Taste was just disgusting and the visuals and effects were cheap and it just left me feeling horrible and I didn’t enjoy it. Harsh Times was just silly at first (the dialog wasn’t meant to be funny but was embarrassingly so). Then it was just kind of boring and had a horrible ending. Overall a movie to depress you, and didn’t really say a lot.

The best movie of 2007 so far
So my best movie of 2007 so far is “The Bourne Ultimatum”, it will be interesting to see if anything can beat it.
The only ones looking interesting are The Invasion, Saw IV, 30 Days of Night, St Trinians, Disturbia. I doubt any of them will beat Bourne.
